Vicar
Growing up in a home with a father who was the perpetrator of domestic violence and a mother who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, Robert knew the presence of the Holy Spirit in his turbulent early years. Robert has seen himself as a wounded healer and his faith journey has moved through the Roman Catholic Church, Campus Bible Study at the UNSW supported by St Matthias Centennial Park, a period of atheism, and a time with Brimbank Churches of Christ. In 2015 the presence of the Holy Spirit he felt in his young years returned in earnest and he remembered his call to be a priest. He found that his calling was complete in the Melbourne Diocese and he was ordained Deacon in February 2018 and Priest in November 2018.
Robert is married to Jane and they have two girls together. He also has three sons from his first marriage. Robert’s love of aviation and rocketry led him to study Aerospace Engineering. He completed his Grad. Dip. Ed and Masters in Educational Administration and spent 28 years in teaching. Robert has completed his Masters in Divinity as part of the requirements for ordination in the Melbourne Diocese.
When not preaching or doing his missional work, Robert loves fishing and enjoys all things DC, Marvel, K-drama, Star Wars and Star Trek.
Robert’s focal passage is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
